However, in comparison to what I have worked with in the past for standard cassettes, it is a great little machine. This product is great when working with standard cassette tapes. The only thing I don't appreciate about it, is that it is loud and does not have as many versatile options as a digital transcriber.
Have heard from the company. Had some shipping problems with one of the transcribers but the other two arrived from the other companies so I don't know what the problem is.
I'd rather get another headphone like the one that comes with this machine which lays flat over your ear. The machine's fine but, I hate having to use the "in the ear" headphone pieces. I cannot for the life of me find replacement headphones for this machine. I tried the office supply store from where my company bought this machine and [.].
Can't find many of them these days, since the new USB pedals and transcription software are becoming more popular.Good little machine. What I expected for a mildly used cassette Transcriber.
The footpedal is indeed a relatively cheap plastic job like other reviewers have said. Another issue i have with this one is that the power cord does not disconnect in the back.
So i was a little spoiled using the Dictaphone because I didn't have to crawl under my desk to unplug the thing in order to put it away; I could disconnect it from the back of the machine. Having that ability would allow me to more easily put the transcriber away and off my desk when I'm not using it.
For the price, this is a very good product overall because it does the job capably. In our quiet office that's a problem, so i have to time my transcribing for when there are fewer people around.
That may be something for Panasonic to consider adding in future models. However, if you've used a Dictaphone or other more professional transcriber like I have, you might find the Panasonic a tad chintzy.
The two less attractive aspects of this product for me is that when you are using the foot pedal and lift your foot to stop the tape and it back spaces a bit, there is a loud 'clunk'.
